Aimsir Láithreach - Present Tense

Aimsir Láithreach - Present Tense

An Chéad Réimniú – One Syllable – 1st Conjunction

Tóg - take

Tógaim – I take
Tógann tú – you take
Tógann sé/sí – he/she takes
Tógaimid – We take
Tógann sibh – You take (plural)

Tógann siad – they take

The endings in bold can be added to any one syllable verb to make it present tense.

For example you can use the endings in the following words:-

cás - twist/turn
cíor - comb
cnag - knock
croch - hang
crom - stoop
cum - compose
díol - sell
dún - close
glan - clean
las - light
mol - praise
póg - kiss

*** these are the root verbs - when looking up in a dictionary you would find the verbs in this form rather than with the endings attached. However, It is useful to know that some online dictionaries will recognize the verbs with endings.

Lets see this is practice....

Cásaim - I turn
Cásann tú - you turn
Cásann sé/sí - he/she turns

cíoraimid - we comb
cíorann sibh - you (plural) comb
cíorann siad - they comb
