Introduction to Irish Grammar

Here are some terms you are going to need to know…

Aimsir Láithreach – Present Tense
Aimsir Chaite – Past Tense
Aimsir Ghnáthchaite – Habitual Past
Aimsir Fháistineach – Future Tense
Modh Coinníollach – Condtional Mood
Modh Foshuiteach Láithreach – Present Subjunctive Tense
Modh Ordaitheach – Imperative Mood
Ainm Briathartha – Verbal Noun
Aidiacht Bhriathartha – Verbal Adjective
Diúltach - Negative
Ceisteach  - Interrogative (question)
Saorbhriathar –Impersonal or Autonomous Form
An Chéad Réimniú – The First Conjunction – a.k.a one syllable
An Dara Réimniú – The Second Conjunction – a.k.a two syllable


Familiarize yourself with these terms as these are going to be very important when learning grammar. It become more apparent and easier to understand once we see these terms in practice and where they fit.. but it always helps to be familiar with these terms when starting off.
